We have all seen those posters of muscular men in spandex shorts running with the word perseverance under it. We hear the word associated with men and women who have achieved great things and overcame insurmountable obstacles. But being a mother has taught me the definition of perseverance better than any skinny man on a poster ever did.
Perseverance means hearing how disgusting your cooking is every night because you refuse to make your children a separate processed meal that you know they would eat instead of your home cooking.
Perseverance means dragging your exhausted butt down to the carpet and putting a puzzle together with your kids even though every ounce of you wants to put them in front of the TV so you can have a moment.
Perseverance means not letting your child crawl into bed with you even though they have gotten out of bed numerous times and it would be much easier than having to walk them back to bed yet again.
So, may I suggest that the next poster for perseverance show a picture of an exhausted mother who is trying so hard to raise independent, well-adjusted kids?
he he he he!!! so true!! although, i have no perseverance in the sleeping department. without fail, i throw in the towel and just let them collapse next to me in bed. :)
